چکیده
Basis risk or residual arising from disparity between an index’s estimate of losses and actual is inherent in index-based insurance products. We approximate basis as the false negative probability (FNP) within pasture, rangeland, forage (PRF) rainfall index for south-central coastal region California. FNP on average that at least one two selected coverage intervals will fail to provide indemnity when a loss realized 48%. The reduced only 11% considering whether both realized.

In the past, many cases of laminitis have been of mysterious origin. Recent investigations in veterinary medicine, coupled with the availability of new techniques for analyzing hydrolyzable carbohydrates in forage may provide evidence to solve some of these mysteries. Fructan has been shown to be capable of inducing laminitis in clinical studies. Insulin resistance, a primary feature of Equine ...

Replicated cow herds of 15 Angus x Hereford (AH) and 15 Brahman x Hereford (BH) F1 cows each were placed on native rangeland (NR) or native rangeland-complementary forage (NRCF) systems. The NR was 8.1 ha of sagebrush-mixed prairie per cow-calf unit and the NRCF used the same mixed prairie complemented by .4 ha of double-cropped winter wheat and summer annual forage replacing about 30% of the m...
متن کاملEffects of Forage Management on Pasture Productivity and Phosphorus Content
The objectives of the current study were to determine the amounts of aboveand below-ground plant biomass production, P uptake by forage, and P concentration of cool-season grass forage as influenced by management and season. Five forage management treatments were evaluated over 3 years in smooth bromegrass (Bromus inermis Leyss) pastures. Management practices were: ungrazed (U), hay harvest/fal...
